A private tour is a great team event, an opportunity to celebrate a private person's birthday, or just a form of spending time with a group of friends. A private excursion is an excursion on a date, time and route chosen by the subscriber, which is conducted for the subscriber's group or company collective. We also offer special age-adjusted hikes for children. It is also possible to order a hike in both Estonian and English.
There is probably no place about which more stories circulate than a psychiatric hospital. On the Seewald trip, we will go and find out how the former beautiful summer estate became a medical institution. Let's take a look at the historic buildings of Seewald and talk about what is being done or used to be done in these dignified buildings. Since it is no secret that the hospital has been thinking about moving plans for a long time, we will also discuss the future perspectives of this breathtakingly exciting place. In the last part of the trip, however, we will do a popular scientific overview of psychiatry and treatment methods, learning what Seewald really does, both in the present and in the past.
Nikolai von Glehn can be considered the father of Nõmme. He was a man who dared to think big and was not afraid to be different from the mainstream of the time. Of course, he also had his weaknesses. Although Glehn had studied economics, he was never a successful businessman, nor was he systematic enough to implement a comprehensive vision for the city. That's why so many of his flying ideas only remained on paper, and instead of great respect, the founder of Nõmme was looked at as a freak at the end of the tsarist era. On the hike, we will find out how the founder of the city imagined the future of Nõmme. What of his plans have been realized and what has gone differently. Unlike our other Nõmme hike, a journey introducing visions from the time of the Republic, we visit Nõmme's oldest and most historic places.
The Old Town of Tallinn is undoubtedly Estonia's biggest tourist attraction and a place where even the locals have visited hundreds of times. On the lantern tour of the Old Town, however, we do not focus so much on the well-known sights, but instead take a tour of the Old Town. We get to know the city wall and the settlements, buildings and green belt that surround the old town. However, we can't quite bypass the old town itself either - we'll detour a bit into the city and check out more and less well-known attractions.
Who among us does not know the beautiful Kadriorg castle and rose garden?! Very good, this time we will leave them in the background and look for nooks and crannies that should not be in Kadrioru at first glance. We will find out if Kadrioru has a dark side, we will talk about the rise, fall and new arrival of the settlement. We will find out how summer life was in the 19th century and what the bathing Germans actually did during their holidays. It's true, however, we'll briefly review the must-see attractions in Kadriorg and solve the mystery that many city dwellers are always puzzled over - why is there a dead-end tramway on Poska street that is never used.
Who among us does not know that Pirita has a monastery, but what kind of life is lived there? Who are the people who today have chosen the nun's path of life and why have they done so? We will explore all this! In addition, we hike in the beautiful Pirita wilderness, enjoy beautiful views of the river bends and listen to exciting stories about Pirita's past. But Pirita also has a darker side - we are talking about a huge underground city of the Soviet Army and we remember the terrorist acts of the NKVD in Scheel Manor!
Many have been to Ülemiste City, and older people still remember the highly secretive Dvigateli factory that was located there during the Soviet era. This time we will take a tour of the former factory based on the memories of the employees. Using unique original material, we bring to light the brighter but also more curious aspects of former factory life. We will find out what was specifically done in which building and what mood prevailed among the workers. The hike is a real treat for all industrial history enthusiasts!
Oh, the wonderful Noblessner Quarter - who among us doesn't know that! But do you also know that it was originally a Suisa submarine factory. Very well, but what about Volta, the giant of the electrical industry at the same time, and the former Franz Krull Masinatehas, which only recently completed the metal works? It is the stories of these three factories that we will focus on on this trip. But not only that, we also look around the far side of Kalamaja and look for the last undeveloped corners of this settlement. PS! In our stories, in addition to well-known history, we also rely on original material - the memories of long-term employees!
Even 100 years ago, a river flowed through the center of Tallinn, which at one time fed several water mills and the defensive ditch of the Tallinn city wall. Today, however, it flows underground in pipes. On the hike, we walk along the former river bed and also talk about all the settlements and stories that the banks of this river have seen. What's more, we will pass through the former Tallinn red light district - yes, there has been such an area in Tallinn as well. Where and what kind of sinful life was lived there - we will find out on the trip!
