Matkafy Lantern Hike
A private tour is a great team event, an opportunity to celebrate a private person's birthday, or just a form of spending time with a group of friends. A private excursion is an excursion on a date, time and route chosen by the subscriber, which is conducted for the subscriber's group or company collective. We also offer special age-adjusted hikes for children. It is also possible to order a hike in both Estonian and English.
It is difficult to find a place in Estonia with a more military past than Paldiski. The famous pentagon of submarines, a nuclear reactor, a missile base - this is just the tip of the iceberg of the closed military city of the Soviet era. We will talk about all this on the trip, and what is even more exciting, we will do it through the memories of men who served time on a nuclear submarine! But did you know that Peter I already made big plans for Paldisk, there have been attempts to build a pier between the peninsula and the Pakri islands, and even in modern times free apartments have been distributed in the city? However, Paldisk also has a milder complexion. There were times when the city was known as a summer resort, not to mention that famous cultural figures have lived and worked in the city. Of course, we will briefly touch on these topics as well!

What can't be hidden here, the prison is an environment that is both mysterious and exciting as well as scary and thought-provoking. Fate would have it that no one would ever have to get behind the Swedish curtains, but surely no one has anything against a nerve-wracking experience in a former prison complex! The Murru prison hike is also very special in the Lantern hikes hiking series in that a considerable part of the hike is spent passing the interior of the former correctional facility. We are talking about the former prison life and the events that happened there. But not only. We will also briefly discuss the entire development history of the Rummu settlement and the present day. We also go to the top of the famous ash hill as the icing on the cake. Murru prison tour is a real treat for those who want to experience apocalyptic views, get to know the former prison life and feel the magic of abandoned buildings!

Swamps are primeval and mystical places that are both feared and revered in folk culture. Centuries ago, people fled to the inaccessible marsh islands from wars, diseases, and manor burdens. In more recent times, bogs were not strangers to the forest brothers, but they also attracted peat manufacturers with their natural resources. Today, it is one of the last pristine nature cantons, which enchants and attracts vacationers with its beauty.

The private hike includes the use of an oil lantern, the best guide, a LIVE talk about the places to be visited during the entire hike, the use of a hand-held radio station, and a warm Lantern hikes mint tea at a stopover decorated with candles.
The cost of a private hike is €600+km. For large groups (from 30 people), the price is €20+km per participant.
City tours
Lantern hikers have often asked if they could also listen to our exciting stories and discover awesome routes during daylight hours. Of course you can - if you prefer to move in daylight or in the summer heat, you are in the right place! We will leave the lanterns for another time and make an exciting, educational and healthy excursion where, in addition to what is available in the literature, we will also rely on the original material collected during our own research.
Additional services
Classically, the price of a private hike includes warm mint tea from Lantern Tours or cool wort in the summer. In addition, it is possible to order a salty and sweet pie and a selection of sweets next to the waypoint, for an additional 8€+km per participant. The baked goods are fresh and made by careful bakers in the bakery on the morning of the hike. The amount of extra snacks does not have to be locked immediately with the date of the hike - the amount of extra snacks (number of people) can also be sent after confirming the order of the hike, but no later than 2 days before the hike.
Classically, the price of a private tour includes:
- In the case of a private lantern hiking tour, a candle-decorated stopover with peaceful music
- In the case of a private city tour, a stopover decorated with lanterns with calm music
In addition, it is possible to order fire barrels for a special treat at the intermediate point, to make the stay even cozier! Fire barrels are especially suitable for intermediate stops on Lantern hikes, where it is nice to warm yourself up and chat with fellow hikers on a crisp autumn and winter evening.
Please note that it is not possible to use fire barrels on every hiking route - find out about the possibilities in the information email.
We also rent fire barrels for separate events, both as a full-service rental and as a simple rental. Full service rental includes delivery, lighting, firewood, keeping the fire going and cleanup. In the case of a simple trend, you have to pick up the fire barrels yourself at the Lanternamatkade warehouse and return the barrel to the same place by the agreed time.
It is possible to set up a total of 10 fire barrels if desired.
Classically, the price of a private tour includes:
- In the case of a private lantern hiking tour, a candle-decorated stopover with calm music, warm tea and, if desired, an additional snack.
- In the case of private city tours, a stopover decorated with lanterns with calm music, hot tea / cold morsas and, if desired, an additional snack.
- As an additional service, it is possible to waive the stopover on the hike and do the hike without a stopover. The duration of the hike is shortened by approx. 15-20 minutes and gives a price discount of -50€ on the final bill (includes km).
The cancellation of a stopover does not have to be locked immediately with the date of the hike - the decision to cancel a stopover can also be forwarded after confirmation of the hike order, but no later than 7 days before the hike.
