New Kintsugi workshop

Kintsugi - Japan's golden art of mending

Do you want to do something creative, thoughtful and relaxing with your friends or colleagues? The Kintsugi workshop is the perfect opportunity for that!

Kintsugi is an ancient Japanese repair method in which broken porcelain is repaired with gold glue. Kintsugi comes from the wabi-sabi philosophy, where flaws and cracks are not hidden, but highlighted and made visible. Traditionally, gold and various natural binders have been used for kintsugi. In today's conditions, the kintsugi workshop is conducted using more modern materials - broken porcelain (as well as glass) is repaired with a two-component glue mixed with gold powder.

Broken dishes can be brought into the workshop, whether it is an expensive grandmother's plate, a favorite mug from childhood or a designer vase broken by a cat. At the same time, there is a wide selection of shards and dishes on site to use in the workshop.

If necessary, the workshop will be conducted in parallel in Estonian and English. Those interested in English speaking are welcome to participate.

The workshop is led by experienced craftsman and repair enthusiast Marta, who is a talented artist and avid supporter of kintsugi and the philosophies behind it. Every question gets an answer!

NB! No previous knowledge is necessary, the workshop is suitable for everyone and everyone will go home with their first kintsugi piece!

The cost of the workshop is 60 eur/person and it includes expert and dedicated guidance, all the necessary materials and work tools, if necessary, primary personal protective equipment (apron and gloves) and packing material to take your first kintsugi piece home safely.

To make the evening more pleasant, we offer the following selection of food and drinks:

  • Coffee break with a sweet bite (coffee-tea-flavored water, cookies-sweets, fruits)
  • Coffee break with a salty bite (coffee-tea-flavored water, fresh pretzel, cookies-candy, fruit)
  • Charcuterie platter and a glass of wine (classic charcuterie platter, red or white wine, water)
  • A selection of snacks and a bottle of beer (nice selection of beer snacks, craft beer, water)
  • A selection of quality mini snacks that includes both salty and sweet bites.

NB! You can also come with your own food and drinks, the possibility of using dishes on the spot.
